Loch Norman Highland Games at Rural Hill: 2027 dates, tickets

The Loch Norman Highland Games and Scottish Festival comes back to Historic Rural Hill, 4431 Neck Road, for its 33rd year in spring 2027. Rural Hill’s games page gives the dates as April 16 to 18, 2027; daily times and ticket prices are not posted yet. Last year’s games ran Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19, 2026, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Rural Hill: 704-875-3113, info@ruralhill.net.

Loch Norman Highland Games 2027: what is confirmed so far

Rural Hill’s page still carries some 2026 wording in its header and edition line, so check with Rural Hill at 704-875-3113 before you book travel around the Friday.

What it is

The games are a traditional Scottish festival held every year at Rural Hill, near the shores of Lake Norman. Rural Hill lists:

• traditional Scottish music and dance;
• Highland athletic competitions;
• cultural demonstrations and historical reenactments;
• talks on Scottish history and culture;
• Scottish food trucks and Celtic vendors;
• a children’s area.

Visit Lake Norman, the area’s tourism office, says the heavy athletics are seven traditional Scottish contests for top-ranked athletes, with longbow and battle ax competitions as well, and that several pipe bands and Celtic musicians play across the weekend.

Rural Hill also keeps a Scottish Heritage Library at its cultural center, which lists the Rural Hill Scottish Festival and Loch Norman Highland Games among the site’s annual events.

Dates

Tickets, parking and camping

• Tickets are sold through Rural Hill’s Eventbrite page and are nonrefundable, Rural Hill says.
• Parking passes, camping passes and whisky, bourbon and Scotch tasting tickets are sold separately. On the 2027 page all three are listed as coming soon.
• Prices for 2027 are not published yet; we will add them when Rural Hill does.

Getting there

• Use Neck Road. Rural Hill says there is no public access from Jim Kidd Road, so check that your GPS routes you to 4431 Neck Road.
• Rural Hill does not publish road closures for the games.

What to know before you go

• No pets. Rural Hill says pets are not permitted at the games. Its policies page says service dogs are welcome at any event.
• No tobacco. Under a Mecklenburg County ordinance, Rural Hill is tobacco-free, including smokeless tobacco and e-cigarettes, and that covers the campground.
• Tickets are nonrefundable, so check the forecast and your plans before you buy.
