Huntersville’s public schools are run by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS), the countywide district for all of Mecklenburg County. The town has no school system of its own. The CMS main number is 980-343-3000, and enrollment and school assignment go through CMS Student Placement, 980-343-5335.

Zones do not follow the town limits. CMS assigns students by home address, and three high school zones split the town. By our count of CMS’s current assignment data against the county’s jurisdiction map, Hopewell High is the zoned high school for about 50% of the home parcels inside Huntersville, North Mecklenburg High for about 25% and William Amos Hough High in Cornelius for about 25%. Part of north Huntersville is zoned for Bailey Middle and J.V. Washam Elementary in Cornelius.
