Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop

Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop at Birkdale Commons is run by Savannah and Gabby, who moved to North Carolina from Johnson City, Tennessee, its location page says. It sells handmade pies baked daily from simple ingredients, in 4-inch and 9-inch sizes, with seasonal flavors and samples in the shop. It takes online orders and is closed Mondays.

Huntersville Ice Cream Shop

Huntersville Ice Cream Shop is in downtown Huntersville on Maxwell Avenue and serves 44 flavors of Hershey’s Premium Ice Cream, plus seasonal and specialty flavors. It makes hand-scooped milkshakes, offers more than 40 toppings and lists gluten-free, sugar-free, vegan and dairy-free choices, including oat milk for shakes.

Kilwins

Kilwins at Birkdale Village sells chocolates, fudge and ice cream, and says customers can watch small-batch treats being made in the shop. It posts shorter hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., for Halloween.

Morelia Gourmet Paletas

Morelia at Birkdale Village makes paletas, ice cream bars on a stick, by hand with Italian gelato or sorbet and fresh, natural ingredients. Customers pick a flavor, then a dipping and toppings. It is open until 10 p.m. or later every night.
