Huntersville Electric
The town has sold electricity since 1916, according to its history of the utility. In 1997 Huntersville and Cornelius combined management of their systems under ElectriCities, while each town kept its own poles, lines and substations. In July 2026 Huntersville began running its system as a town department, with nearly 10,000 customers, and ended that contract. The town also holds an ownership share, through NC Municipal Agency 1, operated by ElectriCities, in the Catawba Nuclear Station.
